La Monastica Resort & Spa is in Buggiano Castello in the province of Pistoia, in a secluded position, but close to many cultural and tourist destinations. It only takes a few minutes by car to reach the thermal city par excellence, Montecatini Terme, or the cities of art such as Pistoia, Lucca, Pisa. In half an hour by car you are already in Versilia, on the beaches of lively Viareggio or the exclusive Forte dei Marmi.
The hotel is the ideal starting point for many walks. Guests can also use the hotel’s bicycles to explore the surrounding hills and villages. There are many itineraries to follow, some of which are historical, such as the St. Jacob’s Way.
Buggiano Castello is a village whose origins date back to sometime before the year one thousand. Still inhabited, its perfectly preserved buildings and palaces make it a true jewel of the Italian artistic heritage. Just a few metres from the Resort you can visit the ancient square overlooked by the church of the Madonna della Salute built in 1038 and the Palazzo Pretorio, which dates back to the second half of the 12th century. Walking along the many narrow streets, still made of stone and mostly closed to traffic, you can discover many other historic buildings and villas and immerse yourself in the charming atmosphere of the village.
