La Monastica Resort & Spa boutique hotel is the result of a careful renovation project which has successfully preserved the pristine charm of the ancient structure.
The central building consists of the former St. Scolastica Monastery, established in the 16th century; four adjoining residences complete the sense of hospitality for those who long for a holiday immersed in the life and rhythm of an ancient Tuscan village.

Each menu is a tribute to the excellence of the territory, with carefully selected seasonal ingredients such as vegetables and fruit, mainly sourced from La Monastica’s own vegetable garden, and meat, fish and cheeses sourced locally. All savoured in the impressive and diverse restaurant environments of the ancient monastery for a unique and exclusive experience.

Developed over nine terraces, supported by stone walls, and bordered by ancient medieval towers, the garden traces the lay of the land outlined around the year one thousand and, thanks to its dominant position, offers spectacular panoramic views of the entire Valdinievole valley.

La Monastica Resort & Spa is in Buggiano Castello in the province of Pistoia, in a secluded location, yet close to many cultural and tourist destinations. It only takes a few minutes to reach the very famous thermal town of Montecatini Terme, or cities of art such as Pistoia, Lucca and Pisa. In half an hour you can drive to Versilia and reach the lively beaches of Viareggio or the exclusive location of Forte dei Marmi.
A FAVOURABLE MICROCLIMATE
Also known as Borgo degli Agrumi, Buggiano Castello enjoys a particular microclimate due to its hilly position, the influences of the Fucecchio marshes and the sea winds. This “climate oasis” favours the growth of citrus fruits which are generally found at more southern latitudes where the temperature is milder than in the surrounding areas.
